Hokkaido — reliable friend of Belarus
20.05.2022More and more young people in Japan are learning about the friendly policy of Belarus and getting acquainted with the opportunities of our country. This was the keynote of Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Japan Ruslan Esin's speech at Hakodate University (Hokkaido prefecture) on May 18, 2022.
The participants of the meeting learned about the history of Belarus, national culture and traditions, internal and foreign policy of the sovereign state, as well as about the prospects of restoration of the dialogue with Japan.
Considerable attention was paid to the role of Iosif and Elizabeth Goshkevich in the process of formation of friendly relations between Belarus and Japan.
Ambassador Esin stressed the importance of preserving the potential of inter-regional interaction accumulated over the past decades and continuation of joint activities in Hokkaido.
The Belarusian diplomat and President of Hakodate University Nomata Junji agreed to establish contacts with one of the Belarusian economic universities and hold a video conference to present regional business opportunities.
On the same day, the Embassy together with Ostrovets District Executive Committee and Honorary Consul of the Republic of Belarus in Hokkaido Masato Matsuura opened in Hakodate a photo exhibition Iosif and Elisabeth Goshkevich — children of the land of Belarus. The exhibition presents photos reflecting the activities of the Goshkevich family in Japan and memorable events in Belarus and Japan associated with them. The opening ceremony was also attended by the head of the Hakodate branch of the Consulate of the Russian Federation in Sapporo Sergey Kastornov.
