Sanctions have become a tool of hybrid aggression

16.05.2022

On May 14, 2022, Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Roman Golovchenko gave an interview to Al Arabiya TV channel.

“We unambiguously interpret sanctions as an instrument of not just pressure, but hybrid aggression. This is probably the last stage that precedes a classic armed aggression. The purpose of the current sanctions, unlike their classical understanding, is to bring the country to its knees, to strangle it economically, and to achieve by force the fulfillment of some requirements or conditions”,- said Roman Golovenko.

According to the Prime Minister, almost all of Belarus' exports to the European Union and North America are blocked because of the sanctions. “This amount is approximately $16-18 billion per year. Of course we can't lose this volume of export and we have to redirect it to other markets, including Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Arabian Gulf. This is what we are working on now,” said the Prime Minister.
